HYMNS FOR TERRY FRANCIS

"Terry was probably my best friend, a big man with a big heart. We worked together and often shared conversation and points of view. He was a Catholic and I was an atheist. I told him that I often imagined him behind a pulpit preaching sermons to his congregation. Then our jobs took us in different directions, Terry worked in the community sector with particular emphasis on interfaith dialogue, he later became a Vicar.

For a while our lives took us in different directions until, incredibly, he became Vicar of two churches in my hometown. I attended his first sermon to a packed church.

In September 2017 he suffered a brain stroke from which he never recovered and passed away in April 2018 at the age of fifty-five. I never saw him again after his stroke except to attend his funeral.
This album is my gift to Terry – a truly wonderful man, inspiration and friend – taken too soon, but never forgotten. Rest In Peace ‘Biggus’."

I already loved Fran's music, but he's now moved into the first division! Each of his releases is a jewel in a different way. Here he uses a combination of beautiful textures and melodies with beats. Normally, beats aren't my thing, but here the effect is very inspiring, not dissimilar to the best Helios work. This is life-affirming music that brightens your day. Allister Thompson
